CABLE PERCUSSIVE DRILLING
Cable percussive (aka shell and auger) drilling is the go-to investigation method where significant depths are required, most notably for pile design. This method uses a trailer mounted A-frame rig to bore to depths in the range of 6 to 30 m, or sometimes more.
This drilling method, much like the others allows for in-situ standard penetration tests, as well as shear vane and borehole infiltration tests, and also facilitates the installation of monitoring standpipes for gas and groundwater monitoring and sampling. Samples an also be taken from the arisings and tested as appropriate.
